Just Dance Unlimited offers many options and price points giving complete flexibility. You can also manage your unlimited subscription. The profile tab lets you change your dancer card, view your sticker album, stats and daily challenges to earn extra Mojo coins. The eggs unlock avatars, stickers, aliases and skins, letting you personalise your dancer card and stand out from the crowd. The home tab lets you jump into pre-curated playlists and spend in-game currency called Mojo on virtual eggs from a vending machine. The main game acts as a hub where you can create playlists, search songs and maintain your profile. Just Dance 2021 has 3 modes the main game, quick play if you just want to jump straight into dance and Kids specifically designed for the tiny dancers amongst you. It does seem to work in your favour though making it easy to earn 4 or 5 stars at the end of the song. One minute you could earn a perfect move then straight after earn a poor for the same movement.
The scoring system does let the game down especially when using the Joy-Con as there just doesn’t seem to be any consistency.
Seeing as the game is entirely reliant on hand movements you can technically cheat and sit down but where is the fun in that, ey? Once you are in the game just move around to your heart’s content. The controls are pretty straightforward to pick up, by holding the Joy-Con upright in your hand then using the analog stick to move around the menu and A on the + controller or right on the – controller to select then B or down being the back button.

The app does need to be connected to the same Wi-Fi as the console so be prepared to hand your password out! Also, rather oddly, you are unable to use a mix of Joy-Con and smartphones so its one or the other. You can have up to 6 players at one time, Don’t worry if you haven’t got enough Joy-Con to go round though Ubisoft have released a companion app which turns your phone into a controller letting any casual gamer join in. Just Dance 2021 is all about having fun and sharing those moments with others whether it’s online in world dance floor mode where you can take part in tournaments or keeping it closer to home in your living room with family and friends. For example, Eminem has a comic book theme with the villain being a trippy fungus-woman which I can only imagine is a homage to the SSLP days. The stages are vibrant, eye-catching and the developers have done a great job with the visuals by capturing the essence of the artist. The main objective is simple, follow the coach’s moves on the screen. The guys over at Ubisoft Paris have made the Just Dance 2021 interface easy to use making it accessible for any walks of life to pick up and play. He is no stranger at taking the limelight and it was definitely the most fun song to dance to, the one, the only Eminem with the stupidly catchy ‘Without Me’ A couple of stand out tracks are ‘Rain On Me’ by Lady Gaga, ‘Dance Monkey’ by Tones & I and a song that in my opinion steals the show. Don’t trust me Google it) and that song from Tik Tok it was great to see a few hits from the past making the list.

With not knowing some of the more recent songs from the likes of Dua Lipa & Billie Pirate Beard Eilish ( see I’m not completely out of touch, I know Billie’s full name. It is a sobering thought that it has taken a playthrough of Just Dance 2021 to realise this, but that didn’t stop me from throwing down some shapes and having a dance-off with my 5-year-old daughter.

Just Dance is one of those series and it still proves to be a staple part of any family gathering and parties after all these years. Fast forward 14 years to present day it’s pretty hard to imagine gaming without it, over the years developers have harnessed its potential and spawned brand new genres that were just not possible before.
